My Mistress has put me to work as a good housewife this month – inspired by the tv-show we are watching on “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives”, although She has gone for a more conservative tradwife angle than the lovely ladies from the Hulu show.
For today that has meant making bread, which surprisingly isn’t the first time I have been ordered to bake bread since I’ve become Her property. However, it is the first time that it has been Victorian Milk Bread and goodness that is not an easy bread to bake. Luckily I was working from home. I figured I could just spend my break kneading the dough and making it ready. But how wrong was I. Two long form YouTube tutorials while struggling later (not only a drop and slap method but others as well)… I had not only spend my full 30min break kneading, but was down close to 45minutes in total of just pulling and pushing against a piece of ultra sticky dough Nevertheless, the resulting bread actually looks nice now it is cooling down from baking. And while this definitely was some terror inflicted upon me as someone who was clearly not mentally equipped to make I do have to say that my Mistress actually made Her own bread the same way as well (Hers even looks a bit better admittedly too). Anyway, tomorrow it will be Victorian Vienna bread so… fun!
The Victorian theme is no coincidence by the way, I am also forbidden from watching/reading current day news but instead am forced to read Victorian archival news and things instead for the coming week! In this regard I did make a discovery yesterday, or rather I read about a discovery. The Underwater Diver’s Telephone, already published in 1889 in “Our National School of Housewivery”, what has modern science done for us if they have not delivered the Diver’s Telephone! Today on the other hand I have been reading up on “Of the use of Flogging”, also very informative reminding me that its not just today that people like to enjoy flogging and caning, but there were plenty of enthusiasts in the Victorian times of this odd and uncommon act.
